3 Strong Cooperatives come together to form MiBroadband

You may see the MiBroadband logo together with Spring Grove Communications and wonder, ‘What’s the connection?” In 2006, Spring Grove Communications and Mabel Cooperative Telephone Company purchased neighboring Harmony Telephone Company.

In 2018, the two companies explored the possibility of expanding services in southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. MiEnergy Cooperative was a natural fit since, like the two companies, they were a cooperative and their electric cooperative footprint matched many of the existing and new areas Spring Grove Communications and Mabel Cooperative Telephone wanted to cover. It was at that time, they chose the name MiBroadband showing the link between MiEnergy (Mi) and the strength of Spring Grove Communications and Mabel Telephone’s ultra-fast current and future fiber network (Broadband).

Since 2018, MiBroadband has been a regional leader in fiber broadband technology, investing more than $55 million in state and federal grant funding to build an advanced network spanning more than 1,800 miles. They offer ultra-fast Internet, Television and Phone services passing nearly 6,000 homes and businesses in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa, covering the the City of Harmony, City of Fountain, rural Harmony, rural Preston, rural Fountain, rural Cresco, rural Lime Springs, rural Decorah and rural Alta Vista. To date, their customer count is over 3,000 residential & businesses . . . increasing every day.

We are proud to partner with Mabel Cooperative Telephone and MiEnergy Cooperative, thru MiBroadband, to bring these essential services to our rural communities, helping connect residents, businesses, farms, and organizations with the technology they need to thrive.
